A child who enjoys doing music in ensembles
will not feel the need to harm or self harm
With
the intention of creating an area of stimulus, formation and
development of the musical activity in symphonic ensembles, the non-profit
organization El Dorado has created the Encuentro Internacional de
Orquestas Juveniles (EIOJ), International Youth Orchestra Conference,
which first took place in Buenos Aires on 2001.
The first 4 editions of the Convention took place in the Colón Theater,
and since 2005, due to capacity reasons, in the University of Buenos
Aires - School of Law, and in the Luna Park stadium.
All youth instrumental formations (bands and orchestras) attend this
conference without distinction or restriction. Participation is
voluntary and free. The EIOJ organization invites every year
particular orchestras whose accomplishments are examples for their
peers.
Since 2001 near of 250 orchestras attended the EIOJ from the USA,
Italy, Argentina (Buenos Aires, Pcia of Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Bahia
Blanca, Mar del Plata, Rosario, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Mendoza,
Corrientes, Jujuy), Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Peru, Colombia,
Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador, etc,
The risk and the despair are not only prerogative of the most
unprotected social levels, but are also nabbed in all social levels,
and we are convinced that a child who enjoys doing music in ensembles,
will not have the need to harm or self harm.
The EIOJ proposes formative or educational activities (Management of
Youth Orchestras and Choirs seminar, masterclasses and lectures for
performers , lectures and meeting of conductors), individual concerts
of each orchestral ensemble, and exhibition of musical instruments,
recordings , sheet music and any musical materials.
The EIOJ has created a website for the interrelation of the orchestras:
www.orquestasjuveniles.com.ar
The EIOJ
supports all projects without discrimination of any kind.
The youth orchestras propose goals and basis of different
characteristics: some are framed in an educational design (conservatories,
universities etc.), others answer to projects of social character (those
that work in marginalized or needy areas as a tool of containment),
others are purely recreational without expectation of professional
training, and finally there are the youth ones that are a link in
the formative chain as a prior step to a professional orchestra.
The youth orchestras cohabitate daily with many difficulties. But
due to the great effort of their conductors and managers, they
develop in means that generally are adverse. The stimulus of taking
part in this mega event that has been taking place for 8 years, has
managed to reaffirm vocations and concrete results that are
expressed on the work that the orchestras have performed during the
whole year. Great majority of the orchestras have achieved, because
of this conference , show their activities and shortage and attract
attention of the offitial and private institutions manifest vocation
of collaborating and supporting this musicians' seedbed that will
nourish in the future the professional organisms of the whole
country. The conductors have met and exchanged materials, goals and
projects. Due to the exhibition of the issues that were evident
during the past EIOJ, ANTORCHAS FONDATION has granted an important
amount of subsidies in 2003 for the equipment and development of
some of these orchestras that today can be provided with the basic
set of instruments necessary for their activities.
